  This great deli is NOT CLOSED!!  Don't believe the posting that says so.  I was there today and got some great salmon caviar and other items.  One problem with yelp reviews is that just as a friend can leave a puff piece, so can some bonehead malcontent threaten a business's livelihood by leaving something negative.  But this place is open and has great edibles.  I'll be a repeat customer for sure, from Schoharie.  It's not far enough to keep me away from the salmon roe!

  I'm always happy to stop into an ethnic Market. I love discovering new favorites and interesting food finds that I can't always easily identify. I have driven by Dnipro many times but finally went in.
  
  First, I saw a menu featuring lunch specials. Among them pirogies, stuffed cabbage and borscht. I went for a bowl of borscht and it was delicious. A vegetable filled version, it was tangy and slightly sweet with big chunks of potato. Next I saw candy, lots and lots of it. Plenty of intriguing small filled chocolates with artistic wrappers. I bought lots. I love the surprise of discovering what type of filling they have.
  
  They have a deli counter with lots of sausages ,ham and other meats. Plenty of cheese for sale too. They have head cheese. I've never been brave enough to try it but it seems to be a staple at Eastern European delis.
  
  I saw pastries but went for a loaf of bread this time. The friendly man at the counter told me that the bread is started in Germany and then finished here. German bread!!! Heck yes!! I'll take it. Germans are certainly known for delicious bread and this is no exception. The loaf I chose was a mix of rye and other flours. It was crusty on the outside and light on the inside with a delicate flavor. It was freshly baked and still warm. Perfect to dip into the borscht.
  
  My next treasure was chopped chicken liver. It's one of the foods you either love or hate. I have long loved it since my days as a Platt's deli girl. This is a fantastic version! Sweet and soft. I spread some of this on the bread too, heaven!!
  
  The service was attentive and personable. The bread alone is reason to go back but I also look forward to trying other lunch specials. The prices are fair as well. Another win for ethnic places in the Latham area.

  Same as Olga, I have been shopping at this deli in the Cohoes, and then Colonie location prior to their move to Latham. They seem to get better with every move! I stock up on Russian candies, German and Polish meats, Russian and Ukrainian bread, pelmeni, kotleti, golubci, kapusta, pickled mushrooms, all sorts of canned fishes, meats, fruits, beverages, etc... when I can. Highly recommend their takeout for lunch and dinner, or just have them make you a sandwich. Also, a good place to ship a package to Belarus or Ukraine.

  My family has been following this Deli storefront for several years. Their previus locations were in Cohoes, and then in Colonie. They have recently moved to 898 Loudon Rd. in Latham.
  As native of Moscow, Russia, living in the US for more than 30 yrs, I rarely like "Russian" business due to poor service, poor hygiene and/or high prices. But Dnipro is a rare and delightful exception. The hard working family who owns it are always friendly, smiling, very helpful. They speak Englsih, Russian, Ukrainian, and, probably, a whole lot of other Slavic languages.
  The store is clean. Products are delivered frequently. Labels in both languages are clearly visible. You can find a wide selection of deli meats, fish and cheeses along with canned goods from several Eastern European traditions: vegetable and fruit preserves, soups, pickles etc. Desserts are fantastic: cakes, poppy seed , cookies, chocolates (including sugar free ones!), crackers etc. List goes on and on. Highly recommend!

  Went in looking for a sandwich. Asked what they recommend after looking at the sandwiches on the special board behind the deli counter. Was told they no longer make sandwiches. Overall I am more confused than anything... Left after not being offered another lunch option...
